Stainless Steel alloys

ORIC Italiana S.r.l. produces and sells AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) Stainless Steel alloys in all its forms. The Stainless Steels are iron-based alloys that combine the mechanical properties peculiar to the corrosion-resistance characteristics. These alloys are able, thanks essentially to the percentage of chromium, to be passivated, that is, to be covered with a layer of invisible oxides, with a thickness equal to a few atomic layers, which protects the underlying metal from corrosive attacks. Passivation occurs by reaction with the oxidizing environment. The passivating layer is self-healing and guarantees the protection of the metal. In particular, the passive film can be more or less resistant depending on the chromium concentration in the alloy and in relation to the possible presence of other elements such as nickel, molybdenum, titanium, etc. The minimum value of chromium to be able to talk of Stainless Steel is 11-12%.
